Jibe Mobile Wins Top GSMA Award For Rich Communication On Mobile

Jibe Enhances Experiences for Mobile Subscribers Globally

Mobile World Congress – BARCELONA, Spain— BARCELONA, Spain, Feb. 16, 2011 –Jibe Mobile™, a real-time communications platform provider, today was named the best Rich Communication Suite (RCS) Mobile client in GSMA’s RCS Dev Challenge announced at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The Jibe 2.0 Address Book enables users to connect, share and manage their communication while enabling innovative features such as two-way video, file sharing and messaging.

Jibe’s 2.0 Address Book runs on the Jibe App to App communications platform and is the world’s first reference implementation of the Rich Communication Suite (RSC-e) specification. The Jibe App to App™ Platform provides a quick-to-market, flexible and scalable solution to deliver next-generation RCS smart communications services for mobile operators worldwide.

With the Jibe App to App Platform, mobile network operators can enable developers to create richer mobile applications and allow consumers to enjoy an open and seamless communications experience. Jibe’s ability to leverage next-generation networks while maintaining compatibility with legacy and low tier devices reduces the time to market for developers launching innovative third-party applications. With Jibe, operators can also offer RCS services across its subscriber base, including peer-to-peer video streaming, instant messaging, video and file sharing for a wide range of applications. Using RCS, these capabilities would be available on any type of device using open communication between devices and networks.

Phillip Carter, Head of Services Architecture at Vodafone Group, said: “Jibe’s award-winning implementation of the new RCS-e specification is the first independent solution developed in collaboration with Vodafone.  Jibe’s innovative approach opens up significant opportunity for handset manufacturers to fast track their development using the Jibe SDK to deliver products that can serve operator commercialization plans in 2011 and further enhance RCS services through app to app integration .”

“For the second year running, the RCS DevChallenge has proved to be a great incubator of new RCS ideas. All the judges agreed on how high the standard of entries was. This support and investment from developers and innovators for RCS shows just how significant RCS will be as a basis to offer exciting choices to users to enrich their communications experience,” said Alex Sinclair, GSMA CTO and CSO. “I congratulate Jibe Mobile on its win.”

Jibe’s implementation of the RCS-e specification is available for integration by handset manufacturers and application developers. Jibe provides SDKs with easy-to-use APIs and a suite of reference applications across a wide range of handset platforms. The Jibe SDK is an essential building block for handset manufacturers to rapidly deliver compliant handsets to market and to minimize interoperability testing. The Jibe SDK also provides developers with access to contact management, social networking, messaging and media sharing functionality.

“This is a very exciting vision for the future of communications, and we are delighted to have been given this award,” said Amir Sarhangi, chief executive officer of Jibe Mobile. “Together with the GSMA and our customers, we’re committed to delivering truly unique and personalized services that will reinvent the mobile communications experience.”
