CTIA was a good event this year. Android seemed to be a reoccurring theme with a focus on lots of devices running Android.

We think Android will be an important and growing part of the mobile ecosystem in the years to come and are investing heavily in this platform. We are excited about the flexibility this platform offers, allowing us to offer true anytime, anywhere messaging.

Qualcomm CDMA Summit in Hong Kong

Jibe was in full force at the CDMA Summit in Hong Kong. Thank you to Qualcomm for putting on such well organized and focused conference with relevant attendees. It provided Jibe with an opportunity to better understand the needs of Mobile Operators, OEM and ODM customers in Asia and EMEA.

Our key observations were that Feature phones still dominate these markets but there seems to be a new category of phones emerging which fill the price gap between Smartphones and Feature phones. Need for value added services for social networking, instant messaging and media sharing has sky rocketed in the past year with usability being a key demand by the end users.

360 is here! Lots of news out on the Samsung 360 device and a public website. The H1 is a very cool device with some great integrated social media features.

Vodafone 360 was announced today, finally out in the open. This is a great service with many of the Jibe features (and more). Will be excited to see it launched soon.

Jibe is now in Europe

First post in quite a while. The team has been heads down for the bulk of 2009 working with a customer in Europe. This will be a very cool social media service that will be launched world wide in the coming months. Can’t disclose much at this point but this will be a very cool and innovative product. We are excited for the upcoming launch – will keep you posted.

Bebo buddies on jibe

Now you can add Bebo buddies to your jibe address book. Chat live with your Bebo buddies, send them cool videos, images, and Shouts! As always you can do this from your mobile or PC.

We are proud to announce a new version of jibe is available to our existing beta customers.

We’ve been working hard to improve the product since our first beta launch and have made some exciting improvements we think you will enjoy.

Simplified navigation

You can now easily browse between your media channels, friends, and messages.

Personalized media channels

You can now add your flickr, youtube, or photobucket account to jibe so you can always have your media with you.

Subscribe feature

Now you can subscribe to different people that have posted videos or photos to youtube, flickr or photobucket. If you find a photo or video you like, click subscribe to add a personal channel of media by that author.

Thanks for all of you that came by the booth at Mobile Beat 2008. It was an interesting event.

Also a big thanks to everybody that voted for us. We had the “dubious” honor of coming in Second Place for the people’s choice award. It was obvious from the voting (#3 was behind by a large margin) that media sharing on mobile was a very hot topic at the event.

We want to wish a speed recovery to our CEO, Amir “MJ” Sarhangi, who is recovering from knee surgery after a failed attempt to dunk over a guy twice his size. Thankfully we don’t have to worry about losing him to the NBA anytime soon.
